An Agent Of Pain

Referring to a Network World article about Napera and other vendors supporting Microsoft’s NAP architecture, security pundit Mike Rothman claims dismissively that “client support isn’t one of the obstacles to NAC deployment”.

Au contraire Mr Rothman! Our experience indicates otherwise, which is why we are leveraging Microsoft NAP. SME customers we’ve been working with are especially concerned about the work required to deploy desktop agents in order to keep their network healthy. However, when your agent is so onerous that end users label it an “agent of pain” and start Facebook groups to complain about it, I’m pretty confident that deployment of said agent can be considered an obstacle!
