Napera Networks Works with Microsoft to Advance Network Access Protection (NAP) and Deliver “Healthy” Networks

Relationship brings small and medium enterprises network health solutions that are easy to deploy, use, and support

SEATTLE, WA, February 27, 2008 -  Napera Networks (www.napera.com), a new startup dedicated to making network security easy for small to medium size enterprises (SME), announced today that they are working with Microsoft Corp. to provide customers worldwide with solutions that utilize the Microsoft Network Access Protection (NAP) technologies released with Windows Server 2008.

Napera is founded by former WatchGuard executives who have a proven track record for making network security easy and affordable for the SME market. Their new family of appliances will help companies maintain a “healthy network” – a productive, efficient, up-to-date network that helps the bottom line. For the first time, IT administrators can easily keep their networks healthy while providing employees and guests with secure access to company resources, printers, and the Internet. Only Napera offers a solution that decreases the overall cost of maintaining secure networks by combining the benefits of rapid deployment and easy administration into one affordable solution. Napera will debut at the launch of Windows Server 2008 in Los Angeles, California on February 27, 2008.

“Today's IT customers are looking for increased dependability, scalability and security features," said Ward Ralston, group technical product manager for Windows Server Marketing at Microsoft Corp. “With Napera’s support of Windows Server 2008 Network Access Protection solution, customers can achieve safe, secure, and healthy networks while also making it easy to own, use and deploy."

Napera: Secure and Healthy Networks

With wireless networking, highly mobile employees, and a myriad of guests accessing company networks, the risk of unauthorized access and network compromise has drastically increased. Today, it is essential that growing companies manage and protect the health of their networks with products from companies such as Napera.

“We are excited to be working together with Microsoft to deliver a NAP solution that is easy and affordable for the SME market. We believe aligning Napera’s solutions with Microsoft’s NAP technology represents a winning combination for us, Microsoft, and our customers.” said Todd Hooper, CEO and founder at Napera Networks.

As a licensee in the Microsoft Work Group Server Protocol Program, Napera will have access to the communications protocols that are implemented in Windows Server operating systems to deliver user and group administration services, including NAP and Active Directory. The Napera solution will seamlessly operate with the Microsoft NAP agents provided with Windows Vista and Windows XP.
